In addition to our student services, the Foundations Program advances dynamic teaching and engaged learning within the CFA community through the following channels.
Teaching All Kinds of Minds
All full-time teachers at CFA attend the Schools Attuned or Teaching All Kinds of Minds training program for educators. This training gives teachers a common vocabulary for discussing student learning as well as tools to help struggling learners. As a demonstration of CFA’s commitment to teaching all kinds of minds, we were recently recognized among only nine other schools nationwide as a Schools Attuned School of Distinction.
Foundations Faculty Workshops
The Foundations Program offers professional development opportunities to teachers regularly. Faculty workshops allow teachers to learn more about timely educational topics and to reflect further on their professional practices in a group setting.
Curriculum Mapping with Atlas Rubicon
During the 2007-2008 school year, CFA initiated an intensive, school-wide curriculum review with the support of Atlas Rubicon International. The process of curriculum mapping requires teachers to record the content, skills, assessments, and neurodevelopmental demands of their courses. Curriculum mapping has been recognized as a best practice in schools internationally, as it facilitates informed communication about curricular issues.
Foundations Parent Workshops
The Foundations Program provides the CFA parent community with opportunities to learn more about how their children learn best. These workshops bring parents together to draw on each others’ wisdom and to share strategies for success. |
