Becky Falor  

Becky Falor teaches Upper School Band, Middle School Band and AP Music Theory. She holds a master’s degree in Music Education from Boston University.

Under her tutelage for many years, the instrumental music program has excelled and consistently wins a variety of awards and honors. The bands participate in our community by providing music for  many concerts, as well as lending support as the Pep Band at basketball games. For the Upper School musicals, Mrs. Falor serves as Music Director and accompanist, and also directs the Pit Band.

In addition to directing the bands, Ms. Falor maintains a studio of applied flute and piano students, specializing in the Suzuki method of music education.

 
                   
    Benedict Fancy  
   

Benedict Fancy is the Film and Video Productions Teacher and the Assistant Drama Director at CFA. As a screenwriter, Mr. Fancy recently optioned his first feature film screenplay to a European production company and, as an independent filmmaker, he has directed three films and several episodes of a television show for the FOX network. With eleven years experience freelancing in technical theatre and the local film industry, Mr. Fancy always looks forward to working with his students on upcoming productions at Cape Fear Academy.

Outside of school, he is an avid mountain biker, having previously raced professionally in England, and he enjoys weekend trips to the North Carolina mountains with his wife, Emily, and their daughter, Ava.

 
                   
    Michael Lauricella  
   

Michael Lauricellal has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, Theater, and Dance/Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, New York.  He spent eight years performing in national/international tours and in off-broadway productions. His teaching career began at The Cathedral School at St. John the Divine and continued at The American School in Switzerland. Michael has spent the last 14 years in San Francisco, writing and directing more than fifty musicals. He ran several successful choral programs throughout the Bay Area while teaching at St. Thomas the Apostle School and Lowell High School. Michael is thrilled to be a part of the CFA and to be closer to his family in the Carolinas.

 

 
                   
    Maggie Miller  
   

Maggie Miller is the Drama Director at Cape Fear Academy. She directs and produces the Upper School productions, teaches the Middle School Theater Arts classes and is involved with several Lower School classroom projects. Mrs. Miller is a CFA graduate, former teacher and a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill where she received a BA in Dramatic Arts. Having been heavily involved in the beginnings of the theater department at CFA as a student, she is excited to be back in the role of teacher and director. Locally she can be seen in numerous community theater productions ranging from Shakespeare to modern dramas to musical theater. She and her husband Hank live at Wrightsville Beach.

 

 
                   
    Jan Reid  
   

Mrs. Jan Reid is the Publications advisor. Her responsibilities include the yearbook Shoreline and the Upper School newspaper The Hurricane. A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, she earned her National Board Certification in English/Language Arts in 2002.  After a 28-year teaching career in public schools, she joined the CFA faculty in 2006. She comes to CFA from Hoggard High School, where she taught sophomore English and advised the yearbook for 18 years. She and her husband, Tom, have two children, Brian and Katherine.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Reid works with the North Carolina Scholastic Media Institute as a member of its summer workshop faculty. She has also worked with both Herff Jones and Taylor Publishing as a part of their summer workshop staff. Her interests include photography and gardening. She is an avid fan of both the UNC Tar Heels and the Carolina Hurricanes.

 
                   
    Lisa Rojek  
   

Lisa Rojek teaches Upper School and Middle School Visual Art classes.  She graduated summa cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of Fine Arts degree, as well as a teaching certificate in art education.  Ms. Rojek also holds a master's of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University.  She specializes in painting, and had a handcrafted jewelry business in the 1990's.

Ms. Rojek practices yoga and meditation, and enjoys being outdoors, reading, and traveling around the country to visit family.  She lives with her husband, Andy, and daughter, Helena, who is a CFA student.
